Tornado Warnings Issued In Southern Ontario Ahead Of Brutal Storms Today
Severe weather is expected to blow through the province this Friday.
Ontario's weather has taken another nasty turn, just in time for the weekend. Ontario tornado warnings are in effect, as well as severe weather alerts. Another round of turbulent weather is expected to bring torrential rain, strong winds, and potential tornadoes to the province this Friday.
According to The Weather Network, a Colorado low is set to sweep in from the west bringing rain and the threat of severe weather back into southern Ontario today. Friday is expected to warm up during the early hours, before cooling down thanks to a cold front in the evening. The front will bring severe thunderstorms and tornado warnings across much of southern Ontario.
Environment Canada is warning several parts of southern Ontario that thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon. The storms are predicted to become severe with wind gusts of 100 km/h and heavy rainfall. They are also warning residents that the storms have the potential to produce tornadoes.
Although thunderstorms and tornados are a possibility on Friday evening, heavy rain and strong winds are the main threats. Weather experts will be monitoring for tornadic activity throughout the day.
"The better instability remains in the Ohio Valley and Michigan, but we have a lot of dynamics associated along the cold front Friday evening, so we can't rule out some isolated severe thunderstorms in southwestern Ontario," explained Weather Network meteorologist Tyler Hamilton.
Thankfully, even though Friday will be a total bust, summer is expected to return on Saturday. Temperatures will rise into the mid-20’s on Sept. 14 with plenty of sunshine.
The seven-day outlook for the Toronto area is looking pretty good so far.
Sadly, though, next week is going to be. According to the latest predictions, summer will end on a bit of low note this year with temperatures dropping down to the low 20's. Cloud cover expected on the last day of summer, which falls on Sunday, Sept 22. this year.
