If you were hoping for sunshine this long weekend, we have some bad news. Instead of pulling out your sunhat, you might want to reach for your umbrella instead. Ontario's weather forecast is calling for widespread rain throughout most of the weekend.

Buckle up for a soggy Victoria Day, because according to The Weather Network, southern Ontario is in for a soaking wet Thursday and Friday, with about 10 to 20 millimetres of rain expected to fall.

Thankfully, temperatures are expected to be pretty warm, so you won't need a winter jacket to brave this storm. But, that humidity and warmth are also going to put us at risk for thunderstorms.

"There is the chance for a few rumbles of thunder due to sufficient levels of humidity and warmth, but the thunderstorms that do occur will be isolated and non-severe. Conditions will slightly improve on Saturday before another round of showers will track in through the later part of the weekend," read a statement from TWN.

If you were hoping to spend some time strolling through the province's reopened parks over the Victoria Day weekend, Saturday might be your best bet, as the rest of the weekend is calling for rain.

The widespread rain and thunderstorm threat are expected to calm down by early Friday for most regions, with daytime temperatures expected to reach as high as 20 C.

According to TWN, while Saturday might be sunny, Sunday and Monday are also suppose to be a soaker, especially in eastern Ontario.

"A widespread rain will develop from west to east across the region during Sunday, lingering into Monday for eastern Ontario. The rest of southern Ontario should see clearer patches, however, once again allowing for daytime highs to rise," TWN added.

Toronto's weekend forecast warns of up to 40 millimetres of rain throughout Sunday, and an additional 15 millimetres on the holiday Monday.

However, the bad weather doesn't end there. Tuesday and Wednesday could also see some rain next week, so you might want to enjoy those rare rays of sunshine on Saturday.

Luckily, it looks like the weather will be looking up into next weekend, with temperatures reaching as high as 23 C throughout Toronto.
