She's back! Iconic Canadian pop-singer Avril Lavigne is coming back to Toronto this fall. The Ontario-born songstress recently announced that she would be performing at the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts on October 6th, 2019. The Avril Lavigne Toronto show will be part of her tour, called Head Above Water.

Lavigne hasn’t performed in Toronto in over six years. The last time she played Toronto was back in 2013 when she appeared as a supporting act for the Backstreet Boys during their In a World Like This Tour

Avril Lavigne revealed the details about her upcoming tour in an Instagram video on Monday:

The Canadian singer-songwriter has famously struggled with health issues for a number of years. Back in 2015, Lavigne revealed that she had been diagnosed with Lyme disease. “I had accepted that I was dying,” Lavigne said during a gripping interview with Billboard in 2018. “And I felt in that moment like I was underwater and drowning, and I was trying to come up to gasp for air. And literally under my breath, I was like, ‘God, help me keep my head above the water.'”

Her battle with Lyme disease was the inspiration behind her sixth studio album Head Above Water, which she released in February of this year.

After being diagnosed with the disease, the singer launched the Avril Lavigne Foundation in the hopes of educating people about the dangers of the disease. According to the Montreal Gazette, Lavigne later explained that she was grateful for the forced hiatus that was brought upon by her struggles with the illness.

“The silver lining of it is that I’ve really had the time to be able to just be present, instead of being, like, a machine: studio, tour, studio, tour,” she added. “This is the first break I’ve ever taken since I was 15.”

Presale tickets for the concert will go on sale on Tuesday, June 25th, 2019. Fans who are looking to be first in line should head over to the singer’s official website so that they can receive a notification when the tickets go on sale.
