A Black Bear Was Caught Roaming Around The Streets Of Markham Last Night (VIDEO)
This isn't the first time a wild animal has been spotted in the GTA.
It is not every day that you see bears strolling through the GTA. Residents received quite a shock after black bear in Markham was spotted taking a late-night walk on Monday night. Videos of the adorable incident have already popped up on Twitter, one of which even claims that multiple bears were spotted.
Security camera footage of the bear shows a police cruiser following the animal carefully guiding them away from the residential area.
The furry creature is spotted casually making its way down the middle of the road, seeming unaware of the attention that it seemed to be drawing.
Narcity reached out to the Twitter poster, Farah Wadia, who claimed that the incident happened at around 9:30 p.m. at night in the Saffron and Delray area.
“This happened last night at around 9:30 p.m. I was watching TV when I saw my room flood with flashing lights. I saw several SUV cop cars on Saffron, all with flashing lights on,” she reported.
Neighbours in the area reportedly sawon Monday evening. However, police have so far only confirmed the sighting and tracking of one animal.
In an email to Narcity, York Regional Police confirmed that the bear was spotted in the Markam region and that it was safely removed from the neighbourhood.
Police also ensured that the animal posed “no threat” to community safety.
“It is not uncommon for bears to make their way into York Region during the Spring," YRP told Narcity.
“Officers located and followed the bear until it eventually continued walking north of Major Mackenzie Dr. into the greenspace. The bear sighting was reported to the Ministry of Natural Resources. The bear posed no risk to community safety,” they added.
However, this isn't the onlyroaming across the GTA.
Over the past few months as humans continue to stay indoors, many wild creatures, includinghave also been spotted wandering through residential areas.
