Peel Police launched an investigation after two men were seen throwing another into the trunk of a vehicle on Saturday night. However, the alleged Brampton kidnapping turned out to be totally innocent and no one was actually hurt in the misleading incident. The police have since identified some suspects and everyone involved has confirmed they were just filming a movie scene.

It all happened just after 6 p.m. Saturday at Larkspur Public School, near Sandalwood Parkway East and Bramalea Road.
Video surveillance showed a male walking alone past the school with a white Honda Civic following him.

The vehicle then drove past him, made a U-turn, mounted the curb near where he was walking, and stopped. Two of the four guys in the vehicle jumped out, grabbed the guy on the street, and shoved him into the trunk.

The Honda Civic then drove westbound on Larkspur Road, before turning southbound on Dandelion Road.

People in the area saw what happened and called the police.

"Naturally, we have taken it as a very serious matter. I know there are times when individuals will go out and do their own video-type production and so on, but this was broad daylight," Sgt. Bancroft Wright said to CP24 at the time. "The number one priority, of course, is the victim. We would like to identify that individual, and if anyone recognizes the individual from the images that we have, they should contact our office."

Luckily, it turned out to be a bizarre false alarm.

Police were able to identify the suspects and alleged victim, and released the following statement on the mishap:

"After a thorough investigation was conducted by police, the individuals involved in this incident were identified. The involved participants were interviewed and police are satisfied that this was not a kidnapping incident but in fact a group of males attempting to simulate a movie type scene."

"Peel Regional Police would like to thank the public and the media for their interest and quick response to this incident," says the media release.

This must have been a weird thing for passersby to witness, especially in broad daylight. Luckily, it was all fun and games.

However, there have been other quite unfortunate incidents of kidnappings throughout the GTA and these should never be taken lightly. If you ever spot anything suspicious, you are always asked to contact police.

We are just happy that everyone is okay and the police were able to close the case quickly.
