It's that time of year again where everybody's starting to decorate for the holiday season. The Hudson's Bay in Toronto wastes no time on this endeavor, and they are always among the first in the city to officially launch us all into the Christmas season. The Hudson's Bay windows in Toronto were just unveiled and this year's theme is "behind the scenes in Santa's workshop."
This year, Hudson's Bay truly transports you to the North Pole. The magical windows feature displays of factory-like scenes where gifts are getting prepared for kids.
There are presents on conveyor belts that can be seen zooming through the windows, as well as snowmen making snow angels and robots printing out lists of children's names.
Other features are boxes of candy canes popping up on conveyor belts, and a display of how ornaments are made. It is all reminiscent of a factory scene operated by robots and machinery.
It's quite an innovative showcase that is like something right out of a storybook. The robotics of it all adds an extra creative touch. It's quite elaborate and theatrical, which is the perfect way to grab the attention of passersby.
Mayor John Tory was there for the grand opening today, revealing to City News Toronto that his favourite display was the one where you can give one of the robots a high-five through the window.
Looks like Santa ditched the helpers this year and got himself a machine operated system instead. A practical, modern twist.
However, the window display isn't the only thing that guests can enjoy at Hudson's Bay this season. The FAO Schwarz pop-up has also returned for another season.
Tonight at 5:30 is Hudson's Bay's annual charitable competition, Wrap for a Cause.
Toronto Raptors Superfan Nav Bhatia will be there along with singer-songwriter Johnny Orlando, chef Anna Olson, and TV personality Vanessa Grimaldi.
Once you take a look at the magical windows, feel free to wander down to the Distillery District where the Toronto Christmas Market is having their annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony Thursday night.
