It's finally here. The climate strike is underway all over Canada and it looks like people of all ages have attended to show solidarity with the cause. Today at Queen's Park, hundreds of people gathered together with their handmade Toronto climate strike signs and got ready to march their way through the city streets. And some of those signs are so good that they're stealing the attention.
Students who were accommodated or happened to have the day off for this event did not shy away from making pretty amazing signs but also making them impactful. Some businesses like Lush have also closed their stores for the day to join in on the strike.
The strike kicked off September 27 and many attendees were there before 11, getting ready for the big day. According to Global News, the Toronto event is being organized by many different youth-led climate action groups like Fridays for Future, Climate Justice Toronto, and ClimateFast.
People all over Twitter are sharing their own designs and slogans on their pretty decked-out signs. These are bound to catch the eye of everyone around them.
Here are a few of the most eye-catching we've seen so far.
Times Are Finally Changing
Greta Thunberg's influence on Toronto marchers is clear to see.
A Direwolf For A Dire Situation
We like the fact that doggos are getting involved, too.
It's Finally Happened
We imagine there are still some people willing to argue against this, to be honest.
The Most Canadian Sign Ever
This person's determined to make sure people know this is a pucking big issue.
A Hot Dog-Free Zone
And this is just possibly the very cutest of all the signs.
Avoiding Planetary Confusion
This is just fantastic pun work.
What Would Joni Say?
The words of Canadian musical legend Joni Mitchell ring all too true today.
We Must Kermit To A Green Future
Again, the pun game = so so strong.
A Burning Question
This pup makes a very good point.
Listen To The Lorax
We love this sign. He "speaks for the trees," after all.
Dropping Truth Bombs
We never saur this sign coming!
An X-Rated Pledge
This is certainly one way to approach it!
Straight To The Point
One of the most striking slogans we've seen because it doesn't sugarcoat.
If you had the chance to make it downtown today, make sure to take the time to read the signs these local activists have made. There are some pretty impressive efforts!
And these are just in the 6ix, let alone what's going on across the rest of the country!
