The holiday season is upon us, but not every pet gets the love and affection it deserves in wintertime. The most adorable animals are looking for a little joy this season and the Toronto Humane Society Christmas initiative aims to help ensure that their furry friends have what they need with Stocking Stuffers. The animals all have their own stockings set up for donations and treats and are counting on the kindness of others.

The THS scheme helps to share the holiday spirit with those unfortunate animals who don't have a place to call home.

"When you purchase one of our Stocking Stuffers, an animal’s stocking will be filled with festive gifts on your behalf," reads a message of the Society's website.

"The best part is supporters who purchase stocking stuffers will receive a thank you letter from one of the animals they helped out! There will be adorable pictures of the animal as well," says Tegan Buckingham, a representative of THS.

So, you'll be able to feel connected to whichever animal(s) you spoil.

The packages range in price from $10 for the little ones to $200 for assorted toys for all the animals.

So, you can contribute as much as you're willing and able to, and you'll know your money is making a difference to the animals.

"Shelter pets don't yet have a family of their own, but we'd like to make the holidays as special for them while they wait to find their forever home," says Buckingham.

Christmastime isn't the only time of the year when THS looks to do right by its animals.

For Valentine's Day this year back in February, it held a similar fundraiser called "goodie-grams".

Although those goodie-grams consisted of solely treats, this Christmas, some of the packages include both toys and snacks, depending on the package you choose to donate.

A full breakdown of the pricing of the Christmas program can be found on the THS site here.

All proceeds go straight back to the rescue, daily care, and rehoming of animals in need.

We don't know about you, but the thought of these pets waking up on Christmas morning and seeing their stockings stuffed with goodies warms our heart.

Do something good this holiday season!
