With many Ontarians working from home, people are relying on their power more than ever. However, on Monday, Toronto Hydro reported that nearly 700 of its Etobicoke customers would be without power for most of the day as crew work to repair an outage. Suddenly sitting at home watching Netflix feels like a blessing again.

Officials reported via Twitter on Monday morning that an underground cable fault had caused the outage.

It is unclear at this moment how long the outage could last. However, Toronto Hydro's current estimate is that full power won't be restored until as late as 4:00 pm.

The cable, which suffered extensive water damage, was first discovered by workers on Sunday night. The problem has left customers who live in the area of West Mall and Eva Rd. without power.

"Crews are on scene making repairs in the Eva Rd/West Mall/Valhalla area outage impacting nearly 700 customers. The estimated time of restoration is 4 pm. We know it's an especially challenging time to be without power. We appreciate your patience," reads a statement from Toronto Hydro.

The company has been attempting to repair the issue since Sunday evening.

"Crews have been on scene overnight working. We know this is a difficult time to be without power. We appreciate your patience," it adds.

The long wait time for restoration had a few customers taking to social media to voice their frustration.

Some individuals noted that the outage could cause their groceries to go bad, which would they said would force them to take another "risky" trip to the store.

"Groceries going bad, people having to go out again to replace them, potentially putting more at risk. How do you answer to that?" wrote one customer.

However, other residents are thanking the company for their hard work during such a difficult time.

"Thank you for your work. Hoping it sooner than expected for a fix," wrote another user.

Toronto Hydro is expected to provide updates on the problem throughout the day.
