Toronto Police have arrested a man in connection with an assault that took place last Thursday in the Bloor Street West and Christie Street area. At approximately 4:30 PM, officers responded to a call for "unknown trouble" after a man riding a bicycle approached a man and woman who were walking with their infant baby just north of Bloor Street on Clinton Street.  Police allege that the Toronto man arrested hurled a bottle containing a corrosive substance at the family, resulting in minor injuries.

The cyclist immediately fled the scene, screaming and yelling, police reports state. He proceeded westbound on Bloor Street, and then turned southbound on Grace Street, police believe.

Toronto Police requested the public's assistance in identifying the suspect, who was described as male, white, with wavy blond hair, wearing a baseball hat with a red maple leaf logo, a dark sweater with a red shirt underneath, and beige cargo pants.

The suspect was seen carrying a black Uber Eats backpack and was riding a black mountain style bicycle, police reports document.

On Sunday, June 9th, at approximately 3:45 PM, Toronto Police identified and arrested Massimo Ionno, 45, of Toronto as the suspect in the case.  Police charged Ionno with three counts of assault with a weapon, one count of administering a noxious substance, and three counts of public mischief.

Ionno made an appearance in court at Old City Hall on yesterday morning.
