Ever wondered what cars used to be like when you were a kid, or ever wanted a classic of your own? If you want to take a look for yourself, the Oblivion II '80s & '90s car and culture show is coming to Toronto next month and tickets are only $5 bucks to get in! You can expect to play old-school video games, see some classic and exotic rides, and enjoy some good beer and food right on the waterfront at this Toronto retro car show.
On Sept. 8, Ontario Place will look a little different! Catering to an '80s and '90s vibe, and encouraging attendees to dress the part, the waterfront West Island will host the main stage for classic, exotic, and forgotten cars of the past.
"We'll have the movie cars from the era too," says Justin Sookraj, Oblivion founder, to Narcity.
"We'll have the Back To The Future time machine, "General Lee" from The Dukes of Hazzard, we'll have K.I.T.T from Knight Rider, and maybe a couple of other things from that group,” Sookraj says.
"Any movie that was from the '80s and '90s, even if it wasn't an '80s or '90s car, we're gonna make an exception."
But you don't just need to be a car enthusiast, oh no! If old-school motors aren't your thing, there will be '80s and '90s video games to enjoy.
You'll have the chance to play classic 8- and 16-bit video games on CRT televisions. And all for no additional cost!
So, expect some good old Mario Kart battles when you make your way there.
There will also be beers, cocktails, and food trucks galore! Tasty food will be readily available for whenever you're feeling the urge to break from the throwback in order to snack.
This all-day show will be followed by an awards presentation later that afternoon. The great thing about this event is that funds raised will support the "Hope for Children" Fund.
If you've got a feeling of nostalgia, whether you've been watching '80s movies or playing '90s video games, this event is totally worth checking out!
