One of the most important parts of marriage is remembering the anniversary. Even in the midst of a global crisis, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau seems to know that. He took the time to send a sweet message to his wife on Instagram.

In a May 28 post, Trudeau shared a photo of himself with Sophie Gregoire Trudeau, writing "You are my rock, my partner, and my best friend. And there’s no one I’d rather be on this journey with than you, Sophie. Happy anniversary, mon amour."

The post has racked up over 116,000 likes since it was posted.

Sophie even left her own comment, writing "Still going," complete with a heart emoji.

The prime minister and his wife have actually known each other for a very long time. Sophie was friends with Trudeau's brother, Michel, who tragically died in 1998. She would even go to their house and swim in their pool.

While the couple hasn't spent as much time together recently due to the global pandemic, Trudeau has continued to visit his family in Quebec

However, he also received some criticism when he chose to spend time with his family over the Easter Weekend.

Sophie experienced the effects of the pandemic firsthand when she tested positive for COVID-19 in March following a trip to the U.K. She has since made a full recovery.

This situation led to the PM choosing to self-isolate at Rideau Cottage, as he had been exposed to the virus. He says he plans to get an antibody test as soon as they become available.

Sophie has recently embarked on a project of her own: the We Well-Being podcast. On it, she speaks with prominent Canadians like Tessa Virtue and even her mother-in-law, Margaret Trudeau, about mental health.
