You Can Fly Directly From Montreal To New Orleans Starting This Winter
Air Transat is adding a Montreal-New Orleans route and it's the perfect winter getaway.
If you've been daydreaming about beneigts with café au lait and taking in French and Spanish Creole architecture then make it a reality this winter. Air Transat flights to New Orleans will be available this winter. The new route comes just in time to take advantage of the new flight route and start planning your next trip to New Orleans to escape the cold.
Air Transit is looking to take Canadians to new destinations this winter and through to next summer. The airline is adding a new Montreal-New Orleans route that will fly people directly back and forth from both cities.
Though the Montreal-based airline flies to about 60 international destinations in more than 25 countries and carries an estimated five million passengers every year, it has never flown to New Orleans before so this is a big development.
"We are enriching our offering to the western and southern United States, in line with growing travellers' expectations. The North American tourism market is strong, and as the No. 1 leisure airline in Canada, we are happy to increase our destinations and frequencies, all while strengthening our Montreal hub," said Annick Guérard, chief operating officer of Transat, in a press release.
Canadians will be able to fly to New Orleans with Air Transat for the first time sooner than you think. Flights to New Orleans start in November and run through the winter. There will be two flights a week on Thursdays and Sundays.
The service will then be extended through the summer of 2020 because of high demand.
After that, the Montreal-New Orleans route will be in operation all year long, Air Transat confirmed to Narcity.
Air Transat is also adding another new destination to its lineup. Starting in the summer of 2020, you'll be able to fly directly from Montreal to San Diego with the airline.
Air Transat told to Narcity that this destination will only be offered during the summer season. But thankfully the airline is more liberal with its use of the word summer because you can take advantage of the flight route until just before Halloween!
The flights will be offered three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Sundays from June 15 to October 28, 2020.
Air Transat's flights are the only direct flight between Montreal and San Diego.
"We are very pleased to welcome the first direct route to San Diego from Montreal," said Philippe Rainville, President and CEO of Aéroports de Montréal, in a press release. "Thanks to our partner Air Transat, YUL Montréal-Trudeau International Airport will be offering a broader and enriched air service, with an increased frequency of flights to the southern and western United States."
Air Transat is also enhancing its services to and from Florida. Next summer the airline is adding four flights a week to Fort Lauderdale, one from Quebec City and three from Montreal.
The Quebec City-Fort Lauderdale route is the only direct flight between the two cities during the summer season. Two more flights will also be added from Montreal to Orlando.
So if you're in Quebec and looking to head to the south, Air Transat has got you covered. Whether you want to take in a BBQ festival in New Orleans, go to Comic-Con in San Diego or head to Disney World in Florida, getting there from Montreal and Quebec City will be easier.
