Quebec's Chutes-de-la-Chaudière park was cleared of all visitors on Wednesday morning, to make way for a major police deployment in connection with the search for Martin Carpentier.

At around 9:00 a.m., officers from the Sûreté du Québec and the city of Lévis attended the scene. All citizens were asked to leave the premises and access to the park was shuttered, reports the Journal de Montréal

We got a call telling us that a particular, strange individual is walking around the Parc des Chutes in the Charny area; [...] we're taking every tip seriously.

Officers attempted to verify information about a man hiding in the woods. However, after combing the area, they confirmed that they could not find any signs of the suspect.

The scene is developing near the memorial created by locals dedicated to the young victims, Romy and Norah.

Carpentier has now been missing for seven days. He is wanted by police in connection with the death of his two young daughters.
