With Halloween just around the corner, there's no doubt that the spooky season is upon us. To make life even scarier, it is also the season when horror movies tend to be released and IT Chapter Two is no exception. The film has been out since September 6 in Canada, however, someone didn't want to keep it on the big screen. As if this clown isn't terrifying enough so imagine how bad it is when it comes out of the screen and becomes reality. That's exactly what happened last night when a local resident came across
That's right, for some horrifying reason, a Montrealer had the dreadful idea to disguise himself as Pennywise, the dancing clown inspired by Stephen King's novel, and lurk around the streets of the Hochelaga-Maisonneuve neighbourhood. Red hair, white face, red balloon, everything is there and it's honestly really scary.
The IT clown was spotted by a passerby who saw him lurking at the corner of Sainte-Catherine and Cuvillier. They then shared the picture in the Facebook group Hochelaga MON Quartier and it quickly went viral due to how terrifyingly realistic it is.
To give you an idea, here is the clown from the film:
And here is the one that was seen in Montreal:
Cue the nightmares!
Of course, something so horrifying has drawn quite the reaction. In less than 24 hours, the photo had received hundreds of comments and reactions. It had also been shared more than 500 times. One thing all the reactions have in common, everyone seems to be unanimous, it's creepy and nobody would want to run into this clown on the street!
However, there is actually a really sweet story behind it! According to MTL Blog, Julien Bauby, who runs Alinéa productions, a Montreal based event company that has decided to turn your nightmares into a very harsh reality but for a good cause.
Bauby told MTL Blog that Pennywise went around the city offering poutine to homeless people. Pennywise tied a balloon to each box of poutine before handing it to a person in need.
Unfortunately, for Montrealers who are more afraid than others, Pennywise is not the only character that Bauby has decided to bring to life.
MTL Blog reports that Freddy Kreuger, the clown from Saw and, the girl from the movie The Grudge have all appeared in public in the last few weeks thanks to Alinéa.
Keep your eyes peeled, because more characters could be lurking around every corner.
