There is a boat lock near Vaudreuil-Dorion that is a popular hangout and a go-to for walks along the water. On Tuesday, May 26 a party took place in the village of Pointe-des-Cascades. When the authorities approached, everyone ran away, leaving a disastrous scene behind.

When the sun comes out, city dwellers love heading outside to soak it up and enjoy the hot summer days.

But even though most are looking for secluded spots to hang out, big groups seem to congregate in certain areas.

Both of these things are exactly what happened in Pointe-des-Cascades when a bunch of people decided to chill in a spot where people aren’t usually allowed.

According to officials, the people even damaged a fence to get there.

When the party-goers spotted the police on the scene, they immediately fled, leaving the place totally filled with trash.

In the photos shared by a local, you can see tons of garbage, coolers, chairs, and even plastic bags.

The lock is considered a dangerous site and swimming has been prohibited for years. In fact, a body was even found in the lock in the past.

Though the police broke up the party, a local told Narcity Quebec that it’s a situation that’s getting more common every year.

In order to prevent this kind of incident from happening again, the area has set up several controlled and safe places where you can take advantage of the summer sun.
