Two more Canadians have been diagnosed with the coronavirus, now officially classified as COVID-19, aboard the quarantined cruise ship in Japan. Outside of China, the docked boat has become the second most contagious location in the world. The 14-day quarantine began on February 5.

Global Affairs Canada confirmed to CTV News that a total of 10 Canadians on board have been diagnosed with the illness, with the two latest cases among 39 new ones that were recently announced.

According to CNN, the total number of people who have tested positive for COVID-19 aboard the Diamond Princess has now reached at least 219. This makes the outbreak on the cruise ship the second largest outside of mainland China.

There are 255 Canadian passengers out of a total of 2,666, plus 1,045 crew members.

While most of the people on the ship will remain in quarantine in their staterooms, Japanese authorities are allowing some people to leave the ship, says a statement from Princess Cruises.

Medically vulnerable people, including anyone over the age of 80, will be moved to government housing facilities.

The government of Canada has asked people onboard the Diamond Princess to follow the direction of Japanese health officials.

They have also stated that they are actively monitoring the situation and are keeping in touch with the Canadian passengers and their families.

Some Canadians have said that they are starting to feel the pressure of being locked in their rooms for so long.

Passengers have been allowed a limited time to walk outside on the deck. However, they must wear gloves and surgical masks during that time.

Across the world, there have been 60,410 confirmed cases of COVID-19. There have also been 1,370 deaths caused by the virus.

Within Canada, there have been seven diagnosed patients. Three of those have been in Ontario, and four more are located in British Columbia.
