Canada is always ready to honour its heroes. That appears to be the case with the new Terry Fox adidas collection. The shoes and shirt designed to pay tribute to the iconic Canadian sold out seemingly within minutes.

The special edition Orion sneakers and commemorative t-shirt that outlined Fox's Marathon of Hope went on sale at 10:00 AM Eastern time on May 20.

According to CBC News, the collection had already completely sold out within a "matter of minutes."

adidas Canada posted about the sale on their Twitter account the same day, writing "Together, we can see Terry’s dream realized. Today we are honoured to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Terry Fox’s Marathon of Hope with the launch of our commemorative collection."

A number of replies to that tweet indicated that both items had already sold out right after the sale started.

"I tried and tried. At 20 sec after 7am PT they were all sold out. Couldn’t enter a size. May want to release again? Or more? How does the entire stock sell out in 20 sec" wrote @JoshGibber10.

"Yes under 2 minutes and gone. Good grief." replied @glott77.

adidas Canada replied to some of these tweets saying that they would be restocking and releasing more items over the coming months.

Some Twitter users responded saying they believed the shoes were purchased by bots, possibly for resale.

"Are the Ticketmaster bots bored? How on earth was it humanly possible to click that fast? What a disappointing experience. Hopefully, you'll re-stock them soon," wrote @Funology_ca.

"more like a matter of seconds. I tried multiple sizes after my size failed in a span of 30 seconds and all them sold out. Bots must have got into the buying cycle so now the shoes will be $250 online later today somewhere," reads a reply from @ScottWJones93.

As of writing, eBay Canada has at least three listings for the shoes, with some selling for as high as $1000.

adidas created the shoes and shirt to celebrate the fortieth anniversary of Terry Fox's Marathon of Hope.

The shoes are a recreation of the one worn during Fox's journey to raise money for cancer research.
