Tim Hortons Has Axed All Beyond Meat Products From Their Canadian Restaurants
No more plant-based breakfast sandwiches or burgers!
Calling all vegetarians, vegans and lovers of all things plant-based ... there’s bad news! Tim Hortons has confirmed that they're removing all alternative meat snacks from their Canadian restaurants, including in British Columbia and Ontario. Despite launching less than a year ago, Tim Hortons’ Beyond Meat products have been officially axed.
Back in the summer of 2019, the Canadian coffee giantwhen they announced that they’d be introducing a number of brand new plant-based snacks to their menu.
After selling their Beyond Burger and Beyond Meat breakfast sandwiches for several months, the company decided tolimiting the veggie meals to Ontario and British Columbia.
Now, it seems that the coffee and donut store has finally decided to call it quits with Beyond Meat, as they announced on Tuesday that all meat imitation products would be removed from restaurants across Canada.
In a statement emailed to Narcity, a Tim Hortons spokesperson explained, “We introduced Beyond Meat as a limited time offer."
"We are always listening to our guests and testing new products that align to our core menu offerings."
"We may offer Beyond Meat again in the future," the comment concluded.
In response to the news, Canadians took to social media to share their thoughts and feelings about Tim Hortons' Beyond Meat snacks.
One Twitter user wrote, "I don’t think the blame lies on Beyond Meat. What Tim Hortons offered was garbage. It was a veg sausage patty and a piece of lettuce between bread. Zero sauce or anything. Was dry and meh."
Another added, "Yay!!! That was gross. Lol! It’s a donut and coffee shop, not a fast food restaurant! If it isn’t broke, don’t fix it."
While another shared a different opinion, tweeting, "I don’t think this accurately reflects Canada’s adoption of meatless options. Tim Hortons is nasty food and A&W Canada is rocking Beyond Meat burgers and sandwiches!"
Their first faux-meat product was launched in June last year, introducing two breakfast sandwiches with a plant-based sausage patty.
