Tim Hortons has finally done it. They've heard Canadians loud and clear and are finally giving them what they've been clamoring for. So get ready, Canada, and prepare yourselves for the new Tim Hortons chicken, bacon, and ranch sandwich. Yes, we know, your excitement is palpable.
The new variation on Tim Horton's $1.99 chicken sandwich features the same 100 percent white meat breaded chicken, plus a healthy dose of bacon, ranch dressing, shredded lettuce, and cheese for only $3.49. It's exactly the kind of thing that every Tim Horton's customer has been dreaming of.
Nutritionally speaking, the new sandwich tops the old one in terms of protein, providing 22 grams as opposed to just 16. It also, curiously, has one gram less sugar. However, it still outdoes the old model in terms of sodium, cholesterol, and saturated fat.
This new sandwich is only going to be around for a limited time, so anyone who has been fervently waiting for yet another new Tim Hortons menu addition should probably run out and get one.
Tim Hortons has once again proven that they're willing to innovate. It doesn't matter that a good number of Canadians just want a smaller menu and better coffee, or better service and fresh baked goods.
It doesn't even matter that Tim Hortons has been struggling to really break into the lunch market and compete with other fast food restaurants. What matters is being ahead of the curve, and what's more ahead of the curve than adding bacon and cheese to an existing product, right?
Will the new sandwich be a hit with consumers? Only time will tell, but judging by the fact that Canadians could get one for just a couple of toonies, it might be a big hit with people trying to save a bit of money at lunchtime.
