One thing hasn't changed during the outbreak of COVID-19 in Canada: people still want their Tims. Luckily, the Tim Hortons mobile app will feature new options for pick-up. This means customers won't have to use the drive-thru if they don't want to.

In an open letter from March 30, Jose Cil, SEO of Tim Hortons parent company Restaurant Brands International, announced that new safe operational procedures for curbside takeout and front door takeout would be announced.

These would allow customers to pick up their orders without going through the drive-thru. Employees will, instead, walk orders out to people who are either in their vehicles or on foot.

In addition to the new ordering options, the letter also states that Tim Hortons will be scaling up its delivery coverage in Canada through its partners.

Tims will also have a $40 million employee support fund set up to pay workers who have had their livelihoods affected by COVID-19.

These people will receive up to 14 days of pay in the event that they cannot work.

The company will also be paying a bonus in April to its employees at corporate store locations.

This is being done to "recognize their tremendous service to our guests and communities during this difficult time," according to Cil.

Tim Hortons is also providing free coffee and food to frontline healthcare workers across the country. Cil states in his letter that restaurant owners are also doing what they can in their own communities.

As evidenced by a video of a man spraying his Tim Hortons coffee with hand sanitizer while going through the drive-thru, not even a global pandemic will stop Canadians from making a Timmies run.

Earlier in March, the company moved to drive-thru, takeout, and delivery service only to comply with social distancing policies. They also had to eliminate their Roll Up The Rim cups for sanitary reasons.
