For the fourth day this week, Canada Post deliveries are completely suspended in parts of Canada. Throughout the week, the national mail carrier has issued several different service alerts for various parts of Canada as inclement weather swept through the country.
Today, these full suspensions are still ongoing in five different areas. These include all of Prince Edward Island and parts of New Brunswick, specifically Fredriction, Moncton, Saint John, and Oromocto. On top of that, there are mail delays in Halifax, Nova Scotia and Regina, Saskatchewan but service isn't completely suspended there.
These service alerts were all issued yesterday, February 8, and are on-going until further notice. Ironically, today in New Brunswick and PEI, the two places hit hardest by these service alerts, there are currently no active weather warnings or even special weather statements from Environment Canada, though the region got a lot of snow this past week.
Canada Post's service alerts also don't specify any details about what specific inclement weather is impeding their service but yesterday on Twitter they cited severe weather conditions as the cause for the delay. They also asked that people clear and salt their driveways, stairs, and walkways to ensure it's safe for their carriers to walk.
This is the same request Canada Post had for people in Ontario when they suspended all mail service in Southern Ontario and also the GTA on two days this past week.
In this case, those suspensions were because of the freezing rain that coated the region in a layer of ice. Fortunately, normal mail and parcel delivery have resumed in both those areas.
Over the past week, Canadians from all these regions have called out Canada Post because of the suspensions. On Twitter, they have not been shy about sharing their views.

Guess your tenement means nothing! Rain, sleet or snow mail gets to where it goes! Or something like that. Replaced by cry babies!— Joseph Pilch (@DanielB27901856) February 8, 2019
This is getting absolutely ridiculous. I 100% understand every Canada post employees complaints and all that. But the weather has not been bad in 2 days, everyone else is working and going to school so what’re the excuses for not delivering everyone’s mail. It’s your damn job.— Alice (@AliceSuchinski) February 8, 2019
Mail delivery is completely suspended in New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island until further notice. As for Ontario and the GTA, service was restored yesterday and deliveries should be going out normally.
