If anyone keeps up with news about convicted serial killer Paul Bernardo, you'll know that earlier this year he was charged with a new crime, even though he has been sitting in a jail cell since 1995.
On February 9th, 2018, Bernardo was found in possession of a weapon while behind bars. According to court documents, he had created a homemade shank composed of a screw and a pen for a handle, allegedly for the purpose of committing an offence.
For those unaware of Paul Bernardo or his crimes, he is one of the most infamous serial killers in Canada. He alongside his wife at the time, Karla Homolka, were found guilty of luring girls into their home to do unspeakable things to the unsuspecting victims. The deadly duo is also known as the Ken and Barbie Killers, murdering multiple people and raped more than a dozen young women.
Today Bernardo is scheduled to appear before the courts again via video chat for his weapons charge and it will be his third court date on the matter.
At this time Bernardo is sitting in the maximum-security prison Millhaven Institution for his crimes of first-degree murder, kidnapping, forcible confinement and aggravated sexual assault in both cases and sentenced to life without the possibility of parole for 25 years.
Story is ongoing.
