Famed American chef and author Anthony Bourdain has died at the age of 61.
According to CNN, who the chef had been employeed by, Bourdain was in France working on a story for his award-winning series Parts Unknown TV series when he was found to be “unresponsive” in a hotel room Friday morning.
The cause of death that is being reported right now is suicide.
CNN released a statement saying “It is with extraordinary sadness we can confirm the death of our friend and colleague, Anthony Bourdain.”
“His love of great adventure, new friends, fine food and drink and the remarkable stories of the world made him a unique storyteller,” the network went on to say.
“His talents never ceased to amaze us and we will miss him very much. Our thoughts and prayers are with his daughter and family at this incredibly difficult time."
Bourdain was the author of many cookbooks and had just had the 11th season of Parts Unknown premier on CNN last month.
His is the second high profile suicide this week after that of iconic New York fashion designer Kate Spade.
