Tiger Woods is in the spotlight today. For the first time since 2015, Tiger Woods has returned to play in The Masters tournament, which is a pretty big deal in the professional golf world.
The Internet is buzzing with predictions about how well he's going to perform. Despite his record-breaking stats and his 14 previous wins in major championships, Woods is still recovering from four rounds of back surgery. He's also 42 years old, meaning his athletic ability is probably nowhere close to what it was at the peak of his career.
But, the fact that he's even in the tournament at all is major news. Golf, as both a professional and recreational sport, has been on the decline in recent years. Unless Woods is playing, the ratings for televised golf tournaments are lower than ever. It seems like the fate of golf itself is in Tiger Woods' hands at this point.
Woods is also in the midst of a nasty legal battle with his ex-girlfriend Kristin Smith. Allegedly, Woods cheated on Smith (shocking) and they broke up shortly afterwards. He paid her to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement, but she's taking him to court to have the contract deemed invalid so she can expose his alleged cheating to the world. In response, Woods threatened to release embarrassing photos of her if she breaks the agreement.
Various media outlets have pointed out that Smith looks a lot like Woods' ex-wife Elin Nordegren, who is also the mother of his two children. Yes, the same wife who swung at him with a golf club in 2009, just before it was discovered that he'd cheated on her with 120 different women. We all remember that.
