Here's What Is Going On With Jacob Hoggard's Case And The Jail Time He Could Face

The disgraced Hedley singer was supposed to be in court this week.

Ever since Jacob Hoggard was officially charged with sexual assault in July, the former Hedley singer has been keeping a low profile.

Despite the near silence in the media, there are still some big updates to his case and the severity of his crimes has not changed.

In the most recent update, Jacob was due in court earlier this week, on August 15, but the case was put over until September. While he wasn't present in court this past Wednesday, his lawyer Ian Smith was there to represent him.

This is the second time that Jacob's case has been put back. At the end of July, the case was pushed back until August 15, and now the next trial date for Jacob to be in court is September 12.

In July it was announced that Jacob was charged with one count of sexual interference and two counts of sexual assault, which allegedly took place in the Toronto area in 2016, explaining why his case is before the Toronto courts.

In Canada, sexual interference, which involves sexually touching someone under 16 carries a maximum sentence of 18 months in prison, while sexual assault has a maximum prison sentence of 10 years, or 14 years if the victim is under 16, which is the case with Jacob.

Jacob has denied that he ever engaged in non-consensual sexual activity with anyone although he has acknowledged in the past he has objectified women through his words and actions.
