As you’ve probably heard by now fashion designer and icon Kate Spade was found dead in her New York apartment yesterday from apparent suicide.
The designer was only 55-years-old, leaving many wondering why she would choose to take her own life.
Well a suicide note was found at the scene and it appears to offer a glimpse into what led to Spade’s decision to end her own life.
The note addresses Spade’s 13-year-old daughter, Frances Beatrix, and says at least in part “Bea - I have always loved you. This is not your fault. Ask Daddy!"
The “ask Daddy” part of the note implies that her husband Andy Spade may have some idea of exactly what led to Kate’s decision to end her own life.
Apparently a short time before her death Andy Spade said that he wanted a divorce from Kate, something she did not want to have happen, leading the designer to fall into a deep state of depression before ultimately choosing to end her life.
While the couple had officially been married since 1994 Andy Spade was not living in the same apartment as Kate at the time of her death.
Kate Spade started her company in New York in 1993, eventually growing her brand to 140 stores in the States and 170 internationally.
