McDonald's is renowned for its iconic and innovative product lines that continuously adapt to changing trends and cultures. So it comes as no surprise that McDonald's has now become the first company in Canada to launch "Snapplications". The launch is a one-day-only virtual recruitment event that enables millions of potential candidates to directly apply for employment opportunities at McDonald's restaurants through the Snapchat app.
Next week, on Wednesday, March 27th, Snapchat users may notice a brand new lens on the app that's completely branded in all things McDonald's. This unique lens allows users to record a 30-second video of themselves describing why they'd be an excellent fit to work for McDonald's.
The video is then directly submitted to the McDonald's Canada hiring portal. It really is as easy as that!
McDonald's "Snapplications" isn't the only way the Canadian arm of the global fast-food company is leveraging new technology to create innovative branding strategies.
Later this month, McDonald's will be announcing a partnership with Google Voice to launch a voice-activated ordering service that will be the first of its kind in Canada.
Stephanie Hardman, Chief People Officer at McDonald's Canada, commented in a press release, "We wanted to offer a convenient and flexible application process to attract more young people through our one-day virtual hiring event. From youth applying for their first jobs, to experienced candidates, Snapplications is a new and exciting way for people to kick-start a career at McDonald's Canada."
"As a leader in the Quick-Service industry, we know that technology is a critical driver of success. Our partnerships with Snapchat and Google Voice are examples of how we're bringing first-to-market innovation to our guests," explained Lara Skripitsky, Chief Technology Officer at McDonald's Canada.
