It's safe to say the Ontario Cannabis Store has had a pretty rocky start when it comes to distributing legal marijuana throughout the province. From the Canada Post strike that left buyers without their orders for weeks to wrong orders being sent out, it's definitely been hard to enjoy legal weed in Ontario.

But, the latest news surrounding the OCS definitely takes the cake when it comes to controversy. Seeing as it isn't regarding the recall for moldy weed that happened earlier this week, but rather refusing to recall orders that contained bugs in them.
No, that's not a typo - it was revealed earlier in the week through a lengthy Reddit thread that users had found bugs in their weed. Don't just take anyone's word for it, though. The Reddit thread was full of photos and even videos showing bugs hiding inside the legal bud from the provincial cannabis store.
Naturally, OCS customers who had already smoked their weed were pretty disgusted and frustrated. Though the situation got worse when the OCS listed a Redecan recall on their website that only included one lot of product- the B.E.C. 3.5 gram dried flower, Lot 4B2L3. The issue with this is that the Reddit thread detailing products that had bugs in them had listed seven different lots alone.
The reason that only one lot of Redecan products was recalled is that the recall had nothing to do with the bug issue. It was simply the OCS's response to five mold complaints they had received. When people inquired about the bug issue, the only information that could be found was discovered in a City News article.
One Redecan spokesperson told the news outlet that the bugs are "beneficial insects" that help treat outbreaks. While the insects may help limit the use of pesticides, it still doesn't change the fact that customers don't want bugs in their orders.
Unfortunately, the most that the spokesperson offered with regard to the fact that customers had found bugs on their order was saying "on a microscopic level it is possible that this could be on our product." Yet there was no offered refund or recall solution for customers who had been affected.
If you are a little hesitant to order from the OCS now knowing that some orders may contain bugs, Redditors have banded together to compile a list of the current lots that people have found insects in. Those being:
B.E.C: Lot #2B1L2 packaged August 3rd, 2018
Shark Shock: Lot #1B2L3 packaged October 24th, 2018
White Shark: Lot #2B1L1 packaged August 7th, 2018
White Widow: Lot #3B1L2 packaged July 20th, 2018
Wappa: Lot #3B1L3 packaged August 6th, 2018
Shiskaberry: Lot #4b1L1 packaged August 15th, 2018
Clearly, it's going to take the OCS a while to regain consumer trust back. Though with yet another scandal hitting the legal distributor, it's not much of a surprise that many Ontarians are going back to their old dealers, especially considering they're able to get weed for only $3 a gram these days.
