Actor Bill Skarsgård - a.k.a. Pennywise the psychotic dancing clown himself -has been spotted in Port Hope, Ontario and he’s looking more sinister than ever. The small town of Port Hope, just one hour east of Toronto, has been completely transformed into the fictional town of Derry, Maine for the filming of “It: Chapter Two."
Residents and visitors have caught glimpses of the filming in action and are sharing some seriously eerie photos on social media. The images have got "It" fans pretty creeped out, to say the least.
The story of "It" was made famous by horror author royalty Stephen King. It has been terrifying audiences for decades with the original 1986 novel and 1990 film adaptation. Over the Labour Day long weekend, Port Hope’s Memorial Park was the set of the film’s chapter two reboot.
In photos shared to social media, audiences are getting a sneak peek of some of Pennywise’s hair-raising antics. The malevolent clown can be seen sitting on the shoulder of Derry’s famous Paul Bunyan statue.
Fans of the original novel might recall that Pennywise takes the form of the giant figure to petrify the character of Richie. This has some speculating that these images could be of that exact scene being filmed. Skarsgård is seen in full murderous-clown attire with the addition of stunt ropes which are sure to be used for some chilling special effects.
"It: Chapter Two" takes place 27 years after the original installment and will feature the adult versions of “Losers’ Club” members who survived the killer clown as kids in the ‘80s. Their mission in Chapter Two? To rid themselves of Pennywise once and for all.
The star-studded cast includes Jessica Chastain (Beverly Marsh), Andy Bean (Stanley Uris), James McAvoy (Bill Denbrough), Isaiah Mustafa (Mike Hanlon), Jay Ryan (Ben Hanscom), James Ransone (Eddie Kaspbrak), and Bill Hader (Richie Tozier).
Warner Bros has announced September 6th, 2019 as the film’s release date. From what we've seen so far, we could not be more excited - and terrified.
