The pageant game has always come with some controversy, whether it's a contestant's blunder or a host calling out the wrong woman's name as the winner. Though a new kind of controversy struck the Miss America franchise in specific late last night when emails from the CEO were leaked exposing some nasty commentary.
The collection of emails are between Miss America's current CEO, Sam Haskell and other men involved with the production. The content in the emails ranged from some pretty horrifying commentary on the contestants involved. The emails below block out names for liability reasons but bear in mind that they do contain explicit content.

2. Lead writer of the Miss America telecast Lewis Friedman asks CEO @samhaskell: are we the only ones who haven't fu*ked Mallory? (Miss America @ItsMalloryHagan)— Yashar Ali 🐘 (@yashar) December 21, 2017
Haskell says: "It appears we are the only ones" - then he goes on to defame her.

While the emails are surfacing to the general public just now, it's been made clear that Dick Clark Productions was made aware of the same emails back in August. When they went to speak with the Miss America Organization, the lack of action on the organization's end to reprimand the involved parties resulted in them severing ties with the franchise.
The emails range from talking about contestants sexually to calling fellow board members "snakes" due to declining to participate in the slander of contestants. The lack of pro-action on the Miss USA board's part is most likely due to the fact that so many big wigs and board members were involved in the scandal.
4. @GretchenCarlson, a former Miss America, served on the board for a number of years. When she refused @LynnWeidner's request to attack former Miss Americas, board member, and DC connector Tammy @haddadmedia, called her a "snake" https://t.co/fyv26kDt55 pic.twitter.com/jAetDKzZdD— Yashar Ali 🐘 (@yashar) December 22, 2017
At this point none of the parties involved in the emails or current board members have spoken out about the story. Though they probably will be releasing statements in the near future.
