Quebec Just Changed Up Their Alcohol Laws And Here Are The 6 New Rules You Need To Know About

Quebec knows how to have a good time.

Drinking in Quebec just got a whole lot better, just in time for summer. The National Assembly just gave Quebec alcohol laws a major overhaul, and you're going to like what you see.

On Tuesday, Bill 170 was unanimously passed in the Assembly, which legalizes the selling and consumption of alcohol in tons of new ways.

Here are six major rules from Quebec's Bill 170 that you need to know about.

  • You can now drink alcohol in a restaurant without ordering a meal.
  • You can drink freely in hotel lobbies and other common areas.
  • Restaurants can get a permit to deliver alcohol.
  • Grocery stores can start selling alcohol as of 7 a.m.
  • Children accompanied by parents will be allowed on bar terraces until 10 p.m.
  • Bartenders are allowed to make drinks before they are ordered when they anticipate a rush.

It seems like the newly relaxed laws around alcohol are a compensation for the strict cannabis regulations that are coming to Quebec when it becomes legalized in Canada.

Quebec is reportedly cracking down on cannabis consumption across the province and will create rigid guidelines for where it can be legally bought, sold, and smoked.

Most of the rules in Bill 170 are slated to take effect on July 1st.
