The holiday season is officially in full swing at Starbucks. The coffee chain released their Christmas drink menu this morning, complete with all four of their new holiday cup designs, as well as their brand new limited-edition beverage, the Juniper Latte.
To celebrate, Starbucks Canada announced yesterday that the first 50 customers at participating stores would receive a free reusable red cup with the purchase of a holiday beverage.
The incentive was enough to have Canadians running to their nearest Starbucks this morning before they opened. Many people were unable to get theirs, simply because they all got snatched up in the very early hours of the morning.
When I go to my Starbucks to get the free reusable cup with my Xmas drink and they’re already sold out at 9am 🙃— Stefanie Maqz (@stefaniemaqz) November 2, 2018
@StarbucksCanada pretty disappointed went to an unpopular Starbucks 30 min after it opened and ordered a holiday drink and I didn't get a red cup. There's no way this store sold 50 in the 30 min. ☹️— Leila (@maadlips) November 2, 2018
Others were disappointed to discover that their nearest Starbucks didn't even have the red cups to offer.
Visited my local @StarbucksCanada this morning to get my reusable red cup and the location did not even know about the promotion. Ended up waiting around for 20 minutes. Very disappointed and so not worth it.— Ayla Gagnon (@aylataryn) November 2, 2018
Those that did get their hands on a holiday drink this morning noticed that the prices have gone up.

Likely due to the sheer volume of holiday orders, the Starbucks app crashed this morning. Customers shared the error message on Twitter, along with a strongly worded message to Starbucks about their frustration.
@StarbucksCanada here's the day except your app and website sign in are down the stores our out of red cups even to buy— onthegood80 (@onthegood80) November 2, 2018
Starbucks customers lucky enough to score the festive reusable cup are already showing them off on social media.
Thankfully, Starbucks knows to launch their holiday lineup as early as possible so that all Canadians have plenty of time to thoroughly indulge in every handcrafted Christmas drink on the menu.
