Jaskirat Sidhu, 29, has been released on $1,000 bail following his brief court appearance today.

He’s had a lot of restrictions placed upon him.

For one he can’t drive a car while out on bail. He also had to give his passport to authorities and is not allowed to attempt to get any kind of travel documents. Along with that, he now has a strict curfew he must follow.

Sidhu is facing a total of 29 charges, which are 16 counts of dangerous driving causing death and 13 counts of dangerous driving causing bodily injury.

Sidhu was uninjured in the crash which took place back on April 6 of this year.

If convicted the RCMP say the maximum time a person can spend in jail for operating a vehicle causing death is 14 years.

The maximum for injuring someone with a vehicle is 11 years behind bars.

The RCMP have released very few details of their investigation into what they believed happened to cause the tragic crash.

The only thing the RCMP have revealed so far is that they believe the truck was in the intersection at the time of the crash.

Sidhu will be back in court on Aug. 21.
