The JUNOs Have Cancelled Hedley's Performance Due To Their Recent Alleged Sexual Assault Scandal

The awards show has taken their position on the matter.

It's only been a day since the #outHedley2k18 hashtag took over the Canadian Twitterverse and flooded people's newsfeeds with haunting stories of young fans being sexually assaulted and harassed by members of the notable Canadian band, Hedley.

Since then not only have we received a statement from Hedley about the matter, but the JUNOs award show itself has taken a more definitive stance on the situation after claiming yesterday that they were "watching the situation closely." The initial wave of stories quickly had thousands of Canadians calling for the award show to revoke the 4 nominations given to the band as well as their scheduled performance slot.

It was released just a few hours ago on the JUNO's official Twitter account that after discussing with the band as well as members of the award show's committee that Hedley would indeed not be performing:

Fans were quick to commend the awards show for the move considering regardless of whether the accusations are true or not, the band is too controversial to have at the show. It's assumed that Hedley most likely won't attend either but this is something we won't know until the day of the awards show.

Another question fans and Canadians have now that Hedley won't be performing is whether they will win any awards at the show, even if they were initially slated to take home some hardware. Will the JUNO's divert the awards to other nominees to avoid controversy? Was Hedley even going to win in any categories at all? While these questions are definitely on our minds, we most likely will never have an answer.
