The Polar Vortex Will Be Hitting Canada With An "Arctic Blast" This Week
Polar Vortex bringing arctic air blast across Canada in March 2019 warns The Weather Network.
Just when you thought that spring-like weather would be coming soon, winter decided to kill any hopes of a warm start to March by sending another hit of cold air to most of Canada. The Polar Vortex will be hitting Canada with an "arctic blast" this week for the first 10 days of March 2019. Is the end of brutal winter weather close? The forecast, unfortunately, says no.
The Weather Network is warning Canadians today on March 1 that "another blast of arctic air is spreading across most of the country as we finish winter officially". Can we please just catch a break already?
It's expected to be significantly colder than usual throughout most of Canada as March begins and we inch towards the start of spring. "Temperatures will be as much as 10 to 15 degrees colder than seasonal, especially across central Canada with temperatures even colder than what we typically see in January", says The Weather Network.
This cold weather pattern is expected to hit the country from coast to coast for the first 10 to 15 days of March 2019. Honestly, is warm weather even a real thing in Canada anymore?
If winter has not been brutal enough, yet another blast of Arctic air is spreading across most of the country as we finish winter officially.— The Weather Network (@weathernetwork) March 1, 2019
The Arctic air blast will be hitting both Western and Eastern Canada. It will first be coming to the western regions of Canada, such as BC and Alberta.
"Initially, the focus of the next blast of arctic air will be across western Canada with temperatures as much as 20 degrees colder than normal for parts of Alberta," says The Weather Network. Colder than average temperatures are also in store for BC and Saskatchewan.
Check out a map from The Weather Network below that shows where the polar vortex will be hitting in Canada. The regions that are highlighted blue show areas where the temperatures will be colder than the seasonal average. As you can see from the photo, almost all of Canada is highlighted blue.
Next week, the arctic air will spread from Western Canada to the southern and eastern regions of the country. "The coldest temperatures for Ontario and Quebec will arrive for Tuesday and Wednesday with temperatures running 10 to 15 degrees colder than normal," warns The Weather Network.
The unseasonably cold weather will last for several days in Quebec and Ontario, which is a seriously rare occasion. "It is most unusual to have so much of North America 5 to 10 degrees colder than normal for a 10 day period," says The Weather Network.
Thankfully, relief from the brutal winter weather will be coming as we get close to spring. "A pattern change is expected by mid-March, allowing much milder weather to dominate during the second half of the month," The Weather Network says.
The Weather Network's spring 2019 forecast for Canada shows that most of the country will have a warmer than normal spring season, . Ontario will also be getting .
So keep holding on, Canada! We just need to last two more weeks in this cold country, before spring comes and warm weather reminds us that it does in fact still exist.
