Ontario's Lottery and Gaming Corporation has released a “Where Winning Tickets Are Sold” list for 2018 and we couldn’t help but notice a pattern. As it turns out, there are five chains in Ontario that have sold a significant number of winning tickets, with prizes of $1 million or more.
We’re not telling you where to buy lottery tickets, but I mean if we were…
In the month of May, Sobeys stores around Ontario sold three winning million dollar tickets. Get this, two of them were in Waterloo and within 11 days of each other. The other big winner was in Richmond Hill.
Esso gas stations also handed out three million-dollar winning tickets around the province. Winners were from Burlington, Maple, and Sarnia. Two winners played Lotto 649 and one played Lotto Max.
From May 18 to June 1 of this year, four Shell gas stations in Ontario dished out million dollar winning tickets. So, within a month, four people from Port Hope, Oshawa, Newcastle, and Bradford became $1 million richer.
Another quartet of million-dollar tickets came from Mac’s convenience stores in Sudbury, Belleville, Oakville, and Petrolia. If that wasn’t enough, the chain also sold a winning ticket in the amount of $1,666,666.70 (very devilish, I know) in Wiarton.
Last but certainly not least, it's the Petro gas station chain that takes the cake for selling the most amount in winnings. Between four different stores, Petro has sold over $24 million in winning tickets this year.
Two million-dollar tickets were sold in Scarborough less than a month apart. One $2 million ticket was sold in Mississauga and one whopping $20,481,125 ticket was sold to a lucky OLG player in Orangeville.
The top prize on OLGs list was won at a Mr. Gas in Ottawa. The lucky recipient won $60,000,000 on a lotto max ticket.
