Trump Administration Trash Talks Trudeau, Says There's A 'Special Place In Hell' For Him

This is what happens when you stand up to a bully.

Donald Trump and his aides attacked Justin Trudeau with a slew of heavy insults after the Canadian Prime Minister refused to give in to the U.S. president’s controversial tariff demands.

At the end of the G7 summit, Trudeau gave a couple of bold closing statements which angered the Trump administration. He stated that the recently imposed tariffs on Canadian aluminum and steel were “insulting” and that Canada would continue to stand up for itself against Trump’s unfair agenda.

The Trump administration saw this as a sign of betrayal against the U.S. and resorted to hurling insults at Trudeau, calling him “dishonest,” “weak,” and “amateurish.” One aide, Larry Kudlow, even went as far as to say that there’s a “special place in hell” for Trudeau for what he said in his closing statements.

The tensions began in the days leading up to the G7 summit, during which both leaders were engaged in a war of words regarding trade disagreements. Almost immediately after Trump announced that he would be removing tariff exemptions on the metals for Canada and other U.S. allies, Trudeau announced that Canada would be imposing their own retaliatory tariffs against $16 billion worth of U.S. products.

Trump, who isn’t used to being defied, took offence to Trudeau’s decision and went on various Twitter rants against him. He also went after other G7 leaders who, like Trudeau, refused to surrender to Trump’s ultimatums. French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and UK Prime Minister Theresa May all stood their ground against the bully, and he didn’t appreciate it one bit.

It was Trump against the world at the G7 summit in Charlevoix, Que., with the rest of the G7 leaders siding with each other against the U.S. president. The meeting was doomed from the start, but no one could have anticipated just how disastrous it would be — Trump, so frustrated by the other leaders sticking up for themselves, decided to leave early and back out of the joint communique.

It’s unclear what will happen now that important alliances, which have served each other well for centuries on end, have been damaged. Trump’s unnecessary aggression, false facts and lack of logic has ruined several opportunities for shared growth among the G7… Perhaps it’s time to consider making it G6 instead, like Macron suggested?
