There's good news ahead for some businesses in the Sunshine State. Governor Gavin Newson held an update Tuesday on the state's COVID-19 response. In light of recent events, Newson gave California theme parks the green light to reopen under stage three of the state's Resilience Roadmap.

A California Health and Human Services Agency spokesperson, Kate Folmar, told The Orange County Register, "Theme parks are slated to open in Stage 3 if the rate of spread of COVID-19 and hospitalizations remain stable."

Newson's Resilience Roadmap is a detailed outline of how the state will safely reopen the economy.

California has been in stage two of modifying the original stay-at-home order since May 8, 2020.

Under the roadmap, the state will allow low-risk businesses such as retail, manufacturing, outdoor museums, offices, and limited personal services to resume operations as long as specific guidelines are met partially.

Stage three of Newsom's plan will focus on businesses deemed high-risk such as theme parks, gyms, weddings, and more.

During a Tuesday update, Newsom said that "Some parts of the state will not be able to pace as quickly into Phase 3."

This may be because some counties will move quickly through stages following specific guidelines. In contrast, others will "maintain more restrictive public health measures," as detailed by the governor's roadmap.

As of now, there is no set date for when California will move into phase three. The state is currently in the early stages of phase two.

The theme parks that fall under businesses in phase three include Disneyland, Universal Studios Hollywood, Six Flags Magic Mountain, Knott's Berry Farm, Legoland California, and more.

Folmar told The Register that theme parks would work closely with the state to create safe reopening plans.

There's no word as to when California's amusement parks will resume business; however, some Florida ones have opening plans as early as June 1, 2020
