All Of Colorado's State Campgrounds Will Be Closed Indefinitely Until Further Notice
It's one of many new rules emerging.
New rules are emerging throughout Colorado's state parks. Earlier today, Colorado Parks and Wildlife released new information on its COVID-19 response. They announced that all campgrounds would be closed indefinitely until further notice. It's just one of many new rules emerging to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus.
"Colorado Parks and Wildlife campgrounds will remain closed until further notice. Agency staff is working on a reopening plan, but ask visitors to State Parks to remain flexible in their travel plans as we navigate a very uncertain time," CPW posted on its COVID-19 Response page.
On March 26, CPW announced that campsites, playgrounds, picnic areas, yurts, cabins, and dispersed camping and facilities would be closed until at least May 4.
However, today's update includes the extension of these closures "until further notice."
For individuals who have placed reservations for campgrounds through May 11, CPW has canceled them and issued a full refund.
They are also offering you the opportunity to change your reservations through December 31, 2020, at no additional cost, if they've been affected by recent changes.
Although campgrounds are closed until further notice, hiking trails, and boating at the state's parks remain open.
Colorado has more than 4,000 campsites and 58 cabins and yurts that have been closed.
For visitors to state parks, CPW is working "to minimize the effects of COVID-19 on your recreation experiences in Colorado."
These precautions include cleaning restrooms and facilities following CDC guidelines, disinfecting shared workspaces, and reducing traffic in visitor centers.
They are asking that visitors follow recommendations from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, to stay home if you're sick, and be respectful and play it safe.
Currently, Colorado has 16,907 confirmed cases and 851 deaths in the state.
