On Monday, Governor Polis went over crucial points regarding the state's response to COVID-19. During his press conference, Polis revealed important information about what's next after Colorado's stay-at-home order. Some businesses in the state could open up as early as April 27, 2020.

"We're going to have to learn to live with coronavirus for a while, but we must live not with anxiety or fear, but with extreme caution..." he stated when discussing his new plan during Monday's press conference.

Under Colorado's safer at home guidelines, the closure of some non-essential businesses will end Sunday, April 26, 2020, according to the Governor's press release

During the press conference, Polis stated, "As long as precautions are taken," businesses like elective surgeries and real estate would reopen with new safety measures, such as one-on-one showings and masks required by all staff.

As of April 27, 2020, the safer at home order will move forward, though Polis is still urging vulnerable people to stay at home if they can. Those include previously compromised individuals and the elderly, among others.

The governor went on to explain that social distancing precautions will still be required to ensure the safety of citizens when individual businesses open up.

Some of these businesses include hair salons, nail salons, and dentists' offices, with openings to happen as early as May 1.

To ensure the safety of Coloradans during this time, he's urging businesses to require all staff to wear face masks and practice personal distancing in public places.

It's also advised that people avoid gathering in businesses outside of what is necessary, like congregating and socializing while waiting for services.

There's still a long road ahead of the state in terms of reopening and returning to normal; however, Polis remains aware of the "potential that we have to return to a more cautious approach if the state sees a spike in new cases."

However, the reopening may bring some relief in the form of jobs to many who have been laid off during the stay at home order.

Only time will tell if reopening businesses as early as the end of the month will work with the new safety regulations put in place.
