Florida's Phase 1 is officially in full swing today, but the beloved theme parks have been some of the slowest to release updates as to when you can return to some of your favorite haunts. There's much to consider, and Disney World Orlando's reopening is on a slow but steady track to keep both their employees and guests safe with added measures. Following the Shanghai Disney example, additions such as mask requirements, glass dividers, and temperature checks are some of the things you can anticipate when The Happiest Place on Earth finally does reopen.

UNITE HERE president Eric Clinton told The Hollywood Reporter in an interview, “What you see there is a lot of what you'll see here.”

The regulations also include distanced ride queues, reduced park capacity and hours, as well as anticipated mandatory masks for all, temperature checks for guests, and plexiglass dividers at registers — some of these changes will also be put in place at reopened Florida casinos.

The partial reopening of Disney Springs this week is the beginning of Disney’s phased approach to fully opening its doors again. Beginning Wednesday, May 20, their third-party stores and restaurants will open.

“Phase 2” will start about a week later, with retail shops like the World of Disney Store and Disney's eateries opening their doors to visitors.

Guests can expect to be swiping their own payment cards, and custodians will even be retrained to manage sanitization in high-touch areas. Employees will be required to self-assess at home for symptoms with thermometers provided by Disney.

Disney CEO Bob Chapek also told The Hollywood Reporter that he was unsure when domestic parks would fully reopen, but that it would rely on state and local restrictions being waived.

With Governor DeSantis' Phase 1 fully implemented today, theme parks can now submit their plans for reopening to the state for consideration.

While Disney's resorts are still closed for the time being, guests are able to make future reservations for the month of July and after now.

You'll have to wait just a bit longer while parks work to make sure everything can be done safely to return to your favorite stomping grounds once again.
