With Easter Sunday right around the corner, we're all stocking up on chocolates to make our goodie baskets. When celebrating the holiday we think about how lucky we are to be with your family and friends and get that warm fuzzy feeling - but some places get in the Easter spirit a bit more than others. A study confirms that Orlando is one of the best places to celebrate Easter - along with a few other well-known cities placing high on the list.
To determine which places are having a Hoppy Easter more than others, WalletHub compared the 100 largest cities in the United States based on 12 metrics for the most ideal Easter celebrations that fell into 4 separate categories - 1. Concentration of Easter Observers, 2. Best Easter Traditions 3. Children's Easter Celebrations and 4. Easter Weather Rank.
The metrics ranged from the number of egg-hunt events and Easter celebrations per capita to share of Christian population (as Easter is centered around faith for many), to how many people observe and celebrate the holiday in the area in general. They are then assigned a point value, which totals up to the overall "Easter Hoppiness" number - 1 being the best and 100 being the worst.
More than 1 Florida city placed high on the list, but a couple fell at the bottom - 1 Florida city takes the 100th spot as the worst major city in the U.S. to celebrate Easter.
Taking the prize at 9th out of 100 is the best Florida city to celebrate Easter - Orlando. They ranked 2nd for best Easter Traditions, which was almost the number one spot! We're not surprised, considering Orlando is home to Disney - the Happiest Place on Earth. They have the "Eggstravaganza" and you can attend the International Garden and Flower Festival since it runs until June for a fun and floral Easter celebration. Orlando also placed 31st for the concentration of people who observe the Easter holiday, as well as 6th for children's Easter celebrations, and 80th for Easter Weather.
In total 6 Florida Cities are scattered throughout the list - 4 of the 6 are in the top 50; The 2nd best Florida city to celebrate the holiday in is Miami with an overall rank of 15 out of 100. Following close behind is Tampa in 33rd, as well as Jacksonville in 38th.
Not all cities in Florida are great for celebrating though. The 2 that didn't make the top 50 placed really low on the list. The next Florida city to make the list is in 86th place and it's St. Pete. Surprisingly St. Pete has the best Easter Weather out of all Florida cities on the list, so it isn't too terrible.
Falling in dead last with an overall rank of 100 is Hialeah. According to the data, Hiahleah took 99th, 98th, and 99th in 3 of the 4 areas; the only area that shines any light on Easter for this city is the Best Easter Weather Rank of 38 - which is only 2 behind St. Pete. So there won't be much chance of rain on your parade there for Easter at least.
