The FDA Is Recalling Even More Hand Sanitizer Brands From Florida Shelves
They have been deemed "toxic."
Floridians will have a shorter list of products to protect from COVID-19 as a hand sanitizers recall pulls more off the shelves.
The Federal Drug Administration (FDA) has listed 75 hand sanitizer brands as unsafe, citing that the sanitizers are toxic.
Methanol is not an acceptable active ingredient for hand sanitizers and must not be used due to its toxic effects.
The agency has recommended that some products be recalled, while others are already being pulled.
They also stated that they're fully aware that adults and children have been ingesting these products that are contaminated with the substance, which can cause death and blindness.
For those who have been using a sanitizer that contains methanol, the FDA wants you to seek immediate treatment if you have symptoms of headaches and nausea.
