There's A 700-Ton Illuminated Sand Christmas Tree In Florida & It's So Floridian
Sandi is a site to see!
The holidays are right around the corner and you might be looking for unique Christmas traditions to celebrate in Florida. If this is the case, a visit to this massive illuminated sand Christmas tree in West Palm Beach is definitely warranted for some special holiday cheer.
The aptly named Sandi Land has been running for what will be the eighth year in a row in West Palm, and it is a big deal. Over 35 feet tall and made from 700 tons of sand, it is, unsurprisingly, the world’s only giant sand Christmas tree. It does not get more Floridian than this.
“Sandi” takes over a month to complete, beginning on November 13 with 10 to 12 trucks coming in per day, over the course of about a week, to dump sand into the biggest tree-shaped pile you have ever seen!
Sculpting is set to being on November 18 through the 27, leading up to the holiday tree light on December 5.
Sandi has become a big deal since her debut in 2012, receiving international and regional awards and has even been featured on The Ellen Show.
To accompany Sandi, there will be free nightly music and light shows through December 31. A holiday in paradise isn’t complete without Sandi, and you’ll definitely want to make her a part of your holiday traditions.
