The Atlanta Police Department (APD) is turning to the public for information about the murder of Tony-nominated actor and Atlanta native, Thomas Jefferson Byrd

Byrd is best known for his work in several Spike Lee films including, Chi-Raq, Bamboozled, and He Got Game.

APD has offered a $10,000 reward to anyone with information that leads to the arrest and indictment of a suspect(s) in Byrd's case.

Police responded to reports of multiple gunshots on Saturday, where they found Byrd unresponsive.*

He was pronounced dead from multiple gunshot wounds to the back.*

Lee took to Instagram upon hearing the news about Byrd, sharing several posts with emotional captions paying tribute to his friend. 

Police believe they are looking for a suspect, but have no information about the motive in the fatal shooting.
