Atlanta BeltLine's New 25-Acre Park May Be The South's Version Of Central Park
We love Piedmont Park but there's always room for new.
The BeltLine has become one of the biggest attractions in Atlanta because you can walk around the spunky neighborhood and stumble across trails, green space and plenty of food and drink at every turn. Right below ATL's popular Grant Park lies a more subtle (but not for long) Boulevard Crossing Park. The small five-acre park is currently being expanded into a massive space that will pose a bit of competition for Piedmont Park.
Boulevard Crossing Park, located near the Southside trail of the BeltLine, is in the works to grow literally five times its size. The project is being designed by Cambridge-based Agency Landscape + Planning and Chicago-based Perkins & Will.
We're assuming the park will please all because the BeltLine held a public community meeting on Thursday (Dec. 12), welcoming locals to offer their recommendations for the park's design and vision.
First came theand now we must get ready for the re-vamped Boulevard Crossing Park, which will be 25 acres when completed.
It's expected to feature trails, a playground, public art, expanded play fields and the city’s fifth splash pad, according to a Curbed Atlanta article. Talk about a glow-up.
Narcity reached out to the BeltLine team for more information on the park's vision and progress and will update with further details ASAP.
Could this be the new Piedmont Park? Only time will tell. It may not be the 840-acre Central Park, but hey, we'll take it.
Regardless, we're super pumped to see what this massive new park will have to offer (and we can't wait to bring our dogs).
Speaking of new happenings on the ever-growing BeltLine, overare currently underway and they are actually affordable.
