The Charlotte Airport Is Getting A $600 Million Expansion & It's Going To Be Massive
A more efficient security line is music to our ears.
You probably have a love/hate relationship with the airport, just like every other human out there. It's fun because you're so excited to get to your destination, but the lines are what is the killer. Luckily, North Carolina airport CLT is trying to solve this issue. The Charlotte airport just broke ground on a new terminal and the expansion is huge.
The Charlotte Douglas Airport saw 12.5 million originating passengers last year alone, so this is a pretty popular airport to arrive and depart from if you live in the South. This number didn't even include the 33 million connecting passengers that came through in 2018.
To say that this project is needed is an understatement. It will take up to six years to complete, which may seem far-fetched, but it will be beneficial when it's complete.
This new terminal will be a 366,000-square-foot additional expansion of their terminal lobby. According to a press release, the benefits for passengers will include ample seating, modern ticket counters, eight original artworks, numerous charging stations and five concession spaces.
The new addition adds up to be a $600 million project, so you know it is going to be good.
The dreaded security lines and stations will be turned into three large and more efficient lanes with some being automated screening lanes to make the lines go faster.
Not only will this benefit the passengers that come through CLT, but it will create tons of construction jobs for those in the industry. It's a win-win.
Charlotte is always welcoming new attractions like thiswith a skate up bar and this that is one of the first of its kind in the city.
