If you're thinking about moving, or even if you're not, there's one city in particular to consider living in. Austin, Texas has been voted the No. 1 best place to live for the third year in a row. U.S. News & World Report's 2019 Best Places to Live survey considers every city based on a number of factors, and it's no surprise Austin has ranked at the top of the list for the past three years in a row.
Other cities in Texas such as Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, and San Antonio ranked among the top 35. Dallas-Fort Worth took No. 21, Houston is No. 30, and San Antonio is 34. Our fellow Texas cities were nowhere near the bottom, but they were far from our No. 1 spot, Austin.
The factors that are taken into consideration when deciding who will get that No. 1 spot are affordability, job prospects and quality of life. These factors are considered by reaching thousands of people in the U.S. and asking them what they consider most important about where they live. Other platforms such as U.S. Census Bureau, Bureau of Labor Statistics and Best Hospitals are all used to determine the statistics as well.
Other states such as Colorado, Washington, and San Francisco were in the top 10 and have been rotating in and out over the past few years. Thanks to a recent boom in the tech industry, the majority of the top 25 best places to live this year were in the Pacific Northwest.
