These past few weeks have been intense for everyone, including animals. While the frequency at which pets are getting fostered or adopted right now could be much higher without the current situation our world is in, that's just not the case at the moment. Now, Austin Pets Alive! is encouraging those who are able to foster dogs and cats in Austin to do so in order to avoid overcrowding onsite.

Austin Pets Alive! is a shelter in Austin located at 1156 West Cesar Chavez Street and is currently operating under regular adoptions hours which are 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.

In preparation for a possible outbreak in their city, the shelter is encouraging those who can to take advantage of their current WFH lives to help animals in need of a temporary home.

Late last week, Austin Pets Alive! made a "urgent adopt and foster plea" post on Instagram.

The post read "We believe that it is in everyone’s best interest to have a smaller number of animals on-site in case we are hit hard with staff shortages or a shutdown."

The notice has already accumulated over one thousand likes and many, many comments from those who can or wish they could help.

Both cats and dogs are up for adoption and fostering, so if there's one that would suit your lifestyle better, there are definitely options.

You can visit the Austin Pets Alive! website for more information, or their Instagram for adorable pics of the pets they have.

If you're unable to help a dog or cat in need at the moment, but know someone who does, encourage them to check Austin Pets Alive! out!

It's difficult to find a silver lining in tough times like these, but giving a pet their furever (or temporary) home is about as close to one as it can get.
